Renee earned her bachelor’s of fine art in studio art with a concentration in drawing and painting, and a bachelor’s of science in dance from Wayne State University December, 2021.
Renee defines herself as an artist to include all that she does creatively. Through the use of ephemera; oil and acrylic paint; chalk, charcoal, and pastel; and even her body, she explores the boundaries of art’s acceptability and relevance in any setting while questioning the relationship between artist/art and viewer/audience.
The works created are themselves processes, sometimes that of simply recycling. She begins layering ephemera (tissue paper or Uline catalogs) on a canvas or paper. Later, markers or acrylic paints are used, occasionally followed by oil, with the content resembling vanitas. As she presents the simplest layer of the human and animal form, she herself is contemplating life and death and her own part in another beings’ transition to the latter.
